it’s not very widely known but, when he’s not digging for other people’s music to play out at the party, mister harkin spends a good deal of his time in the studio making some of his own. up to now, those efforts have made their way onto records for the always on point argot imprint in chicago and nyc’s own throne of blood. and although he’s djed at almost 250 mister saturday night & sunday parties since we got going in 2009, this is his debut release on the label. it’s made up of three spaciously sculpted club scorchers, ripe and ready for the power hour, and we’re super stoked to finally be able to share them with you.

alex falk first showed up on our radar back in 2013 when his terse ep dropped on tennessee-based label proper trax. that record – specifically -ptr-, which we pitched way down and turned way up – was a regular fixture on our platters, so we were stoked when the man in knoxville got in touch with these groove-heavy, stripped-back floor fillers that now make up the anjuna ep.

general ludd are back with sunset yellow, their third ep for us in as many years. this one picks up where “are you losing my hearing?” left off with three more doses of heady drum breaks and spacey synth lines that have been psyching out our dance floor in new york for quite some time now with no negative side effects.

co-producered by clarence reid & willie clarke in 1971 this is another gem from the vaults of henry stone s miami funk empire. repressed and re mastered in conjunction with the rights holders on a dinked 7 inch for 2016.

atlus is a young man with the world on his shoulders. he holds it from misty glasgow, where he spends most of his time in the halls of rubadub. in the three songs on this epic ep, he lifts up party-melting disco house, clanging ambience and bubbling techno – and not for a second does he hint at letting the ball drop. the first of many, many records from him, we hope. this kid’s a titan.

nathan melja is the same young frenchman whose debut ep we released under the name melja late last year. since then, he moved to new york and worked at mister hq for a few months, manned the light booth at the mister saturday night and mister sunday parties (djs make the best light guys), and spent most of his time outside that making music. leo draws is the culmination of that music-making, two murky but beautiful tracks centered around vocal samples and one off-kilter number aimed at the dark corners of the dancefloor.

general ludd is rich mcmaster from new jersey and tom marshallsay from canterbury. the guys met at the glasgow art school, where rich studied environmental art and tom studied fine art. their first collaborations were interactive sound installations, but that quickly gave way to all night music making sessions. this is their second ep for us – a more left field turn than their first, but, we can assure you, both tracks will break discerning dancefloors wide open.

archie pelago is a trio from brooklyn. greg plays cello, zack plays saxophone, and dan plays trumpet and works the knobs. the archie guys did one of the very first releases on mister saturday night records, and we’re very happy to have them back – especially with such brilliant tunes. the a side, clammy customer, takes dozens of twists and turns, weaving in vocals by the always excellent gabriel garzon-montano, and the b side, madame suede nightshade, was apparently made with us in mind (check the initials). both sides are tried and tested on our dancefloor and cut at 45rpm for maximum oomph.

by day hes a scholar of particle physics & signal processing, & by night he makes very heady music. he contributed to the brothers & sisters album & released the first (& only) 10&#8243,, on msn, but this is his 1st twelve-inch for the label

nebraska’s 2011 displacement album became a mister sound system favorite, & a steady stream of unreleased music aimed at eamon & justin, ensued. now he joins the fam.

next up on ellum witnesses the salubrious dino lenny delivers a double-header of epic proportions on his its saturday single. the a side its saturday’ is a heavy as hell piece of colossal techno loaded with a kick like a mule and enigmatic vocals to boot. on the flip and we are indulged with another hefty affair i am changing, with another vocal led jacking heavy hitter with vocals courtesy of dino again. serious stuff for discerning dance floors, speakers beware! dino has been making music for since the late 90’s having remixed everyone from madonna to underworld, and have been championed by everyone from peter tong, the chemical brothers and maceo plex. this fantastic ellum debut is tantamount to his electronic wizardry.

gunnar haslam is a long-time regular at the mister. by day he s a scholar of particle physics and signal processing, and by night he makes very heady music, some of which has made its way onto our very first ten-inch release. it was printed on heavy vinyl and comes in an antique green paper sleeve.

dagoblack is a part time project by joe lentini and erik mccoy. the release includes remixes by someone else(sean oneal) and tony g from philly (tony gabor).

a producer from maisons-alfort, france was too young to attend the nighttime parties but heard some msn releases, & made 3 jams that eamon & justin have been caning for months.

this is brothers and sisters, a summary of the sound of mister saturday night records to date. the album brings together all the artists who’ve released on the label – alex burkat, anthony naples, archie pelago, boya, dark sky, general ludd, gunnar haslam, hank jackson, keita sano and lumigraph – combining music made specifically for this record and tracks that have until now only been available on vinyl. (a special triple vinyl edition of all the unreleased tracks is being released in conjunction with the cd.)

keita sano is from okayama, japan. he discovered mister saturday night in the vinyl bins of his local record shop, which inspired him to make and send them these three tunes.

boya is davin conaty, a young musician from the northwest of ireland. he grew up playing classical piano and trombone, which he left behind at the age of sixteen to play drums in a punk band. now he has moved onto machines - and somehow he has managed to extract as much feeling from them as live instruments. this is his first ep. we are proud to present it.

lumigraph is gareth smyth, a young dubliner who spent the summer of 2012 living in new york city. he filled his time recording sounds of the streets, making.

hank jackson is from southern california, but he calls brooklyn home. a couple months ago, when we were stamping alex burkats record in the mister office, we put these songs on. after we picked our eyeballs off the floor, we realized we were listening to more than just face-burning techno. theres something about hanks music that seems to embody the conflict between youth and age, what its like to live in a society where the law can simultaneously & arbitrarily protect you or harm you. but maybe we just think too much. no matter what, we are happy to introduce hank, and we are happy to present you with the deposit ep. we hope you enjoy
